Security Talk

Posted on Sat May 29th, 2021 @ 3:48pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Rotush Kenear Minister & Commander Marisa Sandoval & Lieutenant Commander Tony Johnson

Mission: The Mentarin Effect

Xavier sat in his ready room, Captain Drex along with his daughter, Ael. With negotiations coming up, the original reason that the Resolution was here for, as well as the Klingons. Based on experiences on the planet, it was right that the talks would take place on one of the ships. Surprisingly the Klingon ship would be the one that would be.

Rotush sat in the corner, intimidated, the Klingons had never showed themselves before, always sending Ferengi traders to pick resources up, and deliver them. Klingons were too busy to deal with resource pick up themselves and handed it over to other races. Now seeing one up close, was not something expected.

"So... with the talks being over on the Gree'tok, let's talk security, Rotush... do you have an opinion or concern about anything."

Rotush looked over to the Captain, who he had heard was the First officer originally. Taking over from the prior. "How many security am I allowed to bring over? Of my own. I trust little, I only trust two of my security implicitly, I do know a couple that can come."

"As many as you like," the Klingon captain answered gruffly, "Or as many as you trust implicitly."

"The plan is to at least bring four to six of my people down to the Gree'Tok" Tony suggested.

Rotush paused. "With the Orion behind this, its not that I don't trust. The people are afraid to lose people. So they follow what the Orion tell them."

"The Orions are weak and rule with fear," Drex nearly spat. "They are dishonorable in that way."

Marisa agreed with Drex. The Orions were bullies. But she chose to address Rotush. "But aren't you putting your people and your children at risk by doing as the Orions ask? The atmosphere on your planet is toxic. Most of your children will never live to adulthood if you continue as you are."

"The one time we stood up to them, we lost 250 of our children. I lost my daughters. My brother lost his wife. They took entire families away."

Drex slammed his fist on the table, "THAT is unacceptable! Why have you not mentioned that in the past! I know my people come across as barabarians to some of you not familiar with our ways but we DO NOT believe in breaking up innocent families!"

"This was more than 15 years ago Captain, both the federation and klingon empire did not seem to care as long as they got what they wanted. Orions did not want that to change."

"You still should have said something before now." Marisa said. "Like the Klingons, we do not condone harming children."

Lieutenant Commander Johnson sighed. "It sounds as if your people allowed their pride to get the best of them. "Once things got too bad for you all to handle, then you call the Federation for help. Would have been nice to have known about the Orions sooner."

Marisa sighed. "I think we've berated Minister Rotush enough. I apologize if I came across too strongly. We are appalled by what has been done, that you are still being forced to give the Orions so much, to the detriment of your people and your planet. Now we need to talk about security for the negotiations so that we can work something out."

Rotush nodded, "You have met Chesire... I don't know why he was with you, but he will be one I request to be onship."

Captain Drex stroked his goatee, "That should be fine. There is more than enough room on the Gree'Tok. My government wants all the participants to be made most comfortable."

"Comfort? I didn't honestly think of Klingons as comfort liking officers Captain." Xavier replied with a smirk. "If you are willing Rotush, and they are ready, you can accompany Drex onboard the Gree'tok."

“We don’t,” Drex replied flatly, “However, full bellies and a little bloodwine go a long way to... what’s the Terran saying? ‘Grease the wheels?’ In a negotiating process.”

"I will agree to that one." Xavier replied honestly. "Very well... Rotush, you will accompany Drex over, however if you dont mind i would like a security officer of Commander Johnsons choosing to accompany him while hes there."

Marisa was concerned about Chesire joining them, but with security and intel both away he was a person to watch, she hoped all would go well--and perhaps, if he was involved, he would tip his hand.

"Anyone have any concerns before we close up and get things rolling?" Xavier replied as he looked around to the people present.

The first officer had concerns, but was confident that security and intel should be able to handle anything that came up, so she said nothing.

Johnson thought about the question and said nothing. His orders were simple and straight to the point.

"Alright, We meet on the Gree'tok in 24 hours, that should be enough time to set up security."
