Debrief

Mission:
The Mentarin Effect
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: Return to the ship
With the away team back Xavier had ordered them to the briefing room, and seeing this was getting more complicated, he had invited Captain Drex from the Gree'Tok to sit in on the debriefing. Commander Sandoval had invited Minister Rotush to the ship. It would help with the sit down later.
This is going to be a party Diane thought to herself after seeing Drex and waited for him to recognize her.
"Double D!" Drex exclaimed, "What have you been up to you hideously ugly whore!"
"Drex! You stinking vomitous mass of steaming fresh p'thak!" Diane replied in kind.
The two then greeted each other with a hug like old friends.
Johnson looked at the two who clearly were very familiar with each other. "So how do you two know each other?"
Drex was about to speak but Diane back handed his stomach and explained, "We've had some... classified dealings, but yes, we do know each other."
With a deeply knit brow of sudden understanding Drex added, "Ah, perhaps in the future we can regale you with the stories of our glorious triumphs."
"Far in the future," Diane added, smiling.
"Now that that is out of the way." Xavier replied brushing it off, given her intel field, it wasn't surprising to know that she has contacts within the klingon empire. Looking at the away team that was gathered, "What have we learned?"
"Found the body of the sniper with his throat cut on the roof," the Security Chief mentioned as he looked over to Captain Drex. "It appears that he was killed using a D'k tagh."
"D'k Tagh, common blade with the Klingons, however it is easy to come by."
"Which is one of the reasons an investigation is pending," Marisa said. "We should know more once the data is analyzed."
Xavier nodded. "Until we know more, I think that's all we can decide on. Captain Drex, you are welcome to remain on ship while we await the answers."
"Thank you Captain," Drex replied, "If the D'k tahg in question should be recovered I would like to examine it. They are often decorated with glyphs that identify the users house affiliation. It could be a valuable clue."
Diane nodded in agreement. She asked the Klingon captain, "Do you have any suspicions Drex?"
Drex looked to the shorter woman but addressed all present, "Not as yet but I do believe we are dealing with one of two possibilities. Some rogue house is causing problems or someone wants us to believe a rogue house is causing problems. In either case I intend to make the problem causing cease." He spoke the last word with a note of finality daring anyone to argue about his determination.
"It wouldn't be unheard of, once science and medical have their findings, they will send all information over to you. As I expect you to do the same." Xavier offered.
"I expect it to be a generic D'k Tagh," Marisa said. "Just as I expect the attack and the murder to be a means to get us to leave the planet to the Orions. It is the most logical hypothesis."
"Would make sense. But it never hurts to investigate it. Once transporters are operational, we will send down teams to search the area."
“Captain” Sky looked towards Carey. “I have reason to believe that Cheshire may know something. He was definitely uncomfortable and I got the sense he was holding something back.”
"Being uncomfortable doesn't necessary mean guilty Counsellor, but it does show concern, and warrant a looking into. Talk with him, see if there is something you an help him with... have Lt Carey be with you at all times you are with him."
“Yes Captain” Sky nodded. “I’ll arrange to speak to him.”
"While I agree that the counselor should have an opportunity to talk with the gentleman," Marisa said, "Perhaps we should expand this to all groups, make it a policy that no one be allowed to go off on their own during the negotiations. They should always be accompanied by one or more people from another delegation. This would give everyone a chance to get to know each other and not make it look like we're singling anyone out."
"Wise decision Commander." Xavier replied, "Commander Johnson, I want security personnel accompanying all visitors from the planet. Tell them its standard protocol which in times like this, is not actually lying to them. Lock up and guard any sensitive areas of the ship."
"Will do Sir."
"I think thats all we can do right now. At least until we start negotiations, and figure out about the murder weapon." Xavier replied as he looked down. "How about we meet here in four hours for the security discussion for negotiations."
Drex nodded in agreement. "I sense we're well on our way to unraveling this... mess."
"Indeed," Marisa agreed. She hoped that they would not only find out who the assassin was, but take care of the Orion problem as well.
