Springing the trap.

Posted on Sun Oct 2nd, 2022 @ 6:29pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Lieutenant Talsi Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey

Mission: The Lost Brother

Two Marines and two fleet fleet security officer stepped on to the transporter pads with the Colonel Stoffels. The Marines turned on the holocaurophic disguises to look like General Stoffels and Admiral London.

Alright Colonel we're ready a be careful not to touch us it will show the or holographic disguise will be obvious." The marine said.

"I know." Aleck said happy the waiting was over.

Tal materialized, looking around, she noticed the surroundings, it provided even herself with cover, the lush greenery, the tall trees, vines hanging around. "Home sweet home." She replied not really speaking the truth, however it is what reminded her of.

When they materialized on the planet surface Aleck was careful not to come too close to the others and waited for what was to happen.

Tal got herself better situated as she watched the Colonel, and the generals. Keeping an eye on the surroundings, it was clear even to newbies that something would soon happen. There was no wildlife nearby but recent scans had shown a variety of species.

Aleck and the decoys were acting as would be expected from them and waiting for the action to go down.

Three Klingons walked into the clearing, one moved closer to the Colonel's team. He he was a tall older grizzled Warrior

"London! Stoffels! Step forward and face me." He barked.

The two Marines stepped forward without waiting for the Colonel's command.

"Where are my children?" The hologram of Admiral London said.

It was a computer generated recording of London's voice. The Klingon grinned and shouted something into his communicator.

Aleck tensed any moment now the action would start and she was very ready to kick some but.

"MuHwI'pu HIv!" The Klingon leader
stouted.

"They've activated an anti beaming field!" one of the officers called out.

Several Warriors began to come out of the foliage to flank the colonel's team.

Tal fired which prompted the others to fire as well. "Move up."

Lt. Gav didn't move the tree where he'd set up his rifle. "Stay with me Jones."

The Tellarite said taking aim at one of the Klingons and fired. "We're watching their asses."

Rick stayed right with Gav, "Got it..." he replied as he fired at another Klingon.

Tal wasn't one to stay back, she, along with everything else, was impatient, and quickly while firing, made her way down towards the group. Out of the corner of his eye, she spotted something out of the corner of the eye, another group of warriors, coming in from the opposite direction. "Heads up." She called out before picking a rock up and picked it towards the group, striking one on the side of the head, knocking him out cold.

Aleck had seen the danger at the same time as Talsi had and was already finding some cover to fire at the new group. There were a hell of a lot more than she would have thought. "We need to free the hostages she shouted. And then get out of here. With preferably some of the higher officers as prisoners to get to the bottom of this. I will cover you!"

Lt. Gav Took a deep breath as he aimed and fired by from his perch. He shot the Klingon that seemed to be the leader the man seemed destrand seem to shrug off the first shot so he fired the second time. He saw two more Klingons pointed in his direction.

"Time to move Jones," The Tellarite said. "There on to us."

"Off we go then," Rick replied following Gav, "There's some cover over there," he mentioned as he fired and ran.

There was a large explosion in the distance that shook the ground with a deafening sound. Large pieces of debris and shrapnel rain down on the combatants. Suddenly dozens of Klingon warriors came to join the fight surrounding the Colonel's team.

=^= Capelly to Stoffels; do you need air support?

"Hell yes. That would be very nice, captain." Aleck said. "And get us out of here as soon as you can."

=^= Fallback to the North, we'll be becoming in hot!

"Understood." Aleck signed off. "Move North people, and hang in there we have support coming."

=^= We've got a team beaming down to the South to shoot your enemies in the back that will hopefully draw them away.

"Thank you, Jules." Aleck stiffled a moan as a blast grazed her shoulder. She was a marine, and would not show any sign of pain or weakness. "Let's hurry it up people!'

*********

Soran took the tactical station as the Wrasse flew towards the ensuing battle. He strapped in, Marine shuttles weren't as comfortable as Fleet shuttles, and it was going to be a bumpy ride.

"Ready to beam down." Tony said nervous as hell going into a combat situation. Capelli would protect her, she knew that much, but she should be the one leading and showing strength.

"Acknowledged," Soran said.

Capelly's team materialized on a hill about fifty meters from the fighting. We need to draw the Klingon reinforcements toward us to give the Wrasse a clean shot, Lt. Rahl take the tricorder. You're our eyes.

Kiara nodded, taking the tricorder she shared a nervous glance with Tony before setting her eyes to the readouts.

Tony gave a reassuring smile. She now knew that Kiara could handle herself a lot better in battle than she had feared. "Stay close." She whispered. For now, she was going to follow Capelly's lead.

"Site your scopes, They have their backs to us drop as many as possible!"Capelly barked.

**********

Tal ducked behind cover as some weapons fire buzzed by her. There was more than just would be from the one ship. There had to be another ship either on the planet or in orbit. "Tal to Resolution... we are getting swarmed here by klingons."

No answer.

"That They're using some kind of jamming signal!" a Marine shouted.

"Or something else is happening." Tal replied back.

"I hope they realise up there that something is wrong and we need more support." Tony growled. "For now let's save our decoy party before it is too late.

"Commander, I take it you guys are our reinforcements." She fired another shot at approaching warriors.

=^= Shield your eyes and take cover

Wagner's voice could be heard over all Federation COMMs. The marine shuttle swooped in low and fired torpedoes that detonated directly over the heads of the enemy the shock thew Warriors every which way and every one could feel the heat.

"Crazy son of a bitch!" Capelly Barked with a laugh.

“You’re telling me!” Kiara grinned as she poked her head up from where she’d taken cover.

Drew picked himself off the ground, "fucking asshole." He said under his breath.

The Sergeant looked at the carnage, "Not bad for a Fleet monkey."

"He is the best at what he does." Tony said with pride. "Now move, let's not waste time and secure the ground party." She motioned for Capelly to take point. "I will cover the rear."

"Aye Commander, Tal looked, all the warriors that were in the vicinity were gone, so she made her way to the group.

=^= Capelly, Carey. The Colonel's team is North of you over that ridge, regroup with them. We'll take enemies toward the South.

As Soran’s voice came over the COMM. they could see phaser bolts from the shuttle striking enemies. The forest was filling with smoke And the smell of blood, hot metal and burning flesh as the battle waged on. There were large carrion birds descending on the dead and dying. They let out unnerving calls that mixed with the sound of wounded Warrior's that completed the vision of hell before them.

“Ohh my god...” Kiara had to turn away, the smell was bad enough let alone the sight that was before them. What horror had she gotten into here?

"Let's scare those things off.' tony muttered. "Nobody deserves to die like that. "Come up hurry up and be careful not to hit our own people." She had to keep it together for now although no command or combat course had prepared her for this.

Lt. Gav took a flare from his pack and activated it, he threw it into the clearing. Most of the birds began to scatter and the Tellarite took a few well aimed shots at the few who remained.

"I hate scavengers," Gav growled.

"We gotta move, the wind is moving those fires this way." Capelly said.

He could see the Colonel's people now the Klingons had retreated but they were in pretty bad shape. The old marine couldn't help but smile when he saw the colonel, he could see hear give orders to her troops like it was a training exercise. She had just killed one of those birds like it was fly.

Aleck was in her element. She did not mind being a staff officer for her husband and realized very well that her husband and kids needed to know she was safe but this was what she was made for. Not for a moment did she feel her own wounds while she systematically continued to kill the birds as well as keep an eye on her team to make sure they were as safe as they could be and doing their job without panicking.

=/\= Resolution to away team report=/\= Xavier replied as he came over the combadges of the away team

Tony breathed easier now that contact with the ship was reestablished. "Stoffels here, sir. We could use some help getting out of here. On top of Klingons this planet has some very nasty predators."

Capelly let out a shout and charged at the birds that were still swarming the Colonel's people. With his Marines moving in step. They were firing above people's heads to scare the fouls.

=/\=Our transporters are still online, I shall have everyone beamed up to sickbay, and the triage units the resolution has. We will worry about everything else down there later, after the commotion dies down. Lets get you home.=/\=

Aleck was still warding off the predators making mostly sure her people were okay. In the mean time she got pecked a few times. In the adrenaline rush she did not feel any pain yet though.

Tony saw her mother get hurt. "Please hurry, sir. And get the decoy party first, they are being hammered down there."

"Energizing now." Xavier replied over the link. It would take less than a minute to have everyone onboard. Thos in the marine shuttle would arrive shortly afterwards.
