Mission:
Starship Side Quest
Location: USS Eldritch
Timeline: current
Previously on Star Trek, Resolution...
Diane's comm-badge chirped, [Olivaw to Doctrine] She tapped hers to reply, "Go ahead."
[Our sensors are showing you've made some new friends. Can we be of any assistance?]
Diane replied, "We have a couple who need some medical treatment. Can we beam them to your sickbay?"
[Of course,] Daneel answered. [Prepare for beam-out]
and now....
==USS Eldritch, Sickbay==
The group beamed into sickbay and once the materialization was complete, the medical folks got to work.
Tale dashed to the sickbay. The left side was prepped for crewmate that she helped from earlier and one they beamed directly from Kepek's ship.
Annie followed Tale, one of the new patients was her crewmate and one of the few Rothins that had left her home world with her. She stood out of the way of the medical staff, but the had to check on her friend.
"How's it looking Loveask?" Tale asked.
"She's stabilized in the far bed," Loveask replied with a nervous chitter. "Okonkiss is repairing her ribs first, before tackling the bleeding. I didn't want them to interfere with the process."
Tale nodded. "That's exactly what I would've done."
"Now the patient in the stasis tube, she has several disruptor wounds that would've been fatal had she not popped herself into the tube. She must've been attacked in the sickbay."
"If we pull her out," Tale sighed heavily. "She'll continue to disintegrate. Fantastic."
Tale rubbed the bridge of her nose and motioned to everyone that did not have medical training in an Off you get motion.
Diane looked to the rest and offered, "We should get to the bridge, introductions are in order."
Alisa simply nodded and followed the Commander to the bridge.
Milton was making the initial scans of the patient in the Cryotube, disruptor wounds are a tricky thing. The fact she was unstable due to it being a kill shot. He scratched his chin while he contemplated the problem. The disruptor disintegrates the atomic structure and the bonds between. The most important part of this process would be the stabilizing the degradation of the structure.
"Milton to Transporter Room." He began. "I am sending you a scan I need you to run through the Pattern Buffer and connect it to my tricorder."
=^= Sir why do you need connection to the buffer unit? =^= The Tech asked.
"I am wanting to check the physical structure of the pattern and hope to compensate the loss of pattern with the transporter filling in the missing pattern." Milton said. "Enough of a pattern to stop the derogation of pattern.'
The gamble here was a method to be 'all or nothing' with a kill shot that should disintegrate the body and Milton wanted to have the body steadied enough to become solid again. He deduced that ten to fifteen seconds in the buffer should 'save' the pattern and allow the transport to complete with the person mostly in tact.
"I have the pattern ready." Milton informed after making some adjustments; the computer doing millions of calculations to bring the projected pattern to the best percentile. "Leave the pattern in the buffer for twelve seconds. then re-transport to Sick Bay Operating room One."
=^= Confirmed sir.=^=
Milton watched he transporter sparkle and then moved to the Operating facility.
==Bridge==
Captain Olivaw spoke to his temporary operations officer, "Lieutenant, start scanning for impulse or warp trails of departing vessels. I have a feeling we'll be chasing someone down next."
Etan nodded, for once surprised that the helmswoman hadn’t made any comment regarding the order he’d been given - something told him that she’d like nothing more than to have a target to chase down. It didn’t take much to find the plasma trails of multiple vessels. “Sir, I have a warp trail I believe is connected to the attack on the station based on decay and the station’s reports. Heading three-two-seven, mark forty-three. Based on decay rate and plasma composition, we can outspeed her if she hasn’t turned. Navigation data synced to helm and tactical, Captain.”
“Very good Lieutenant, thank you.” He stood and started to make his way to the conference room, “Vam’wa, take the conn. I think we’ll be leaving soon.”
==Conference Room, off the Bridge==
Daneel walked in and was surprised at the number of people. "All right... what's going on?"
Diane began with an arm wave, "Meet Kepek's crew. Kepek's crew, meet Captain Daneel Olivaw. It's his ship were on now."
"This is great," Daneel answered with a slight bit of sarcasm, "Can anyone tell me what the devil is going on here?"
Kip was wearing a brown leather coating over a bright orange tee shirt and khaki cargo pants. He leaned back in his chair and put his feet on the table. The Angsion made it a habit of making himself at home where ever he happened to be.
“My crew and Came to Toshi Station to look for Soran Wagnor and the other officer with him,” Kip retrieved a cigar from his pocket and put it in his mouth as he spoke.
"Did you find him?" Kay asked eagerly. She was still keeping an eye on Kepek after his earlier collapse.
Kip dropped a small round medallion on the table next to Kay, "is this familiar to anyone?"
Kepek retrieved his lighter as he waited for a reply.
Diane picked up the medallion and examined it. "I do feel like it should be familiar."
Daneel abruptly said to Kepek, "If you light that on my ship there will be trouble that you don't want."
Kepek looked the Captain in the eye as he put the cigar away. “Right then.”
“Those cigars are going to kill you one way or another," Cael growled.
"I've got it," Diane finally said, "Soran has a similar medallion," she held it up for all to see, "he fidgets with it when he's uncomfortable." she look at Kip, "Is this one his?"
Kay snatched it up at once and felt her eyes tear. "This belongs to Ren. I am sure of it. But you did not find him or Sky?"
"We found that tucked into an access panel, he wanted it to be found." Kepek said. "We found traces of Angosian blood, Not enough to be worried about. Besides, Sentinels are tough."
"I know he is tough." Kay whispered. "Any idea where he might be?" She really did not want to give the medallion back.
"We're doing our best to find him," Kepek said gently. "Tell you what, why don't you hold on to that and you can get it back to him."
She gave him a beautiful smile. "Thank you, sir. I appreciate that very much. He is like a brother to me and he is my best friend's boyfriend." Kay knew her father really saw Ren as another of his sons and with his recent health scares she was determined to bring him back in one piece.
Alisa was in observation mode right now, observing, quietly, paying attention to everyone that was in here, and their mannerisms. There was too much din for her to listen to anything going on, but that didn't stop her cold black eyes from trying
“Kepek,” Diane started, “Do you have any idea who would have taken Soran? Or where they’ve been taken to?”
“Sensors have detected a couple of impulse and one warp trail leading from Toshi Station in the last few hours,” Daneel offered, “My bet would the warp trail is the one to follow. We can extrapolate where they went if it would help.”
"Agreed. The longer the warp trail decays, the harder it will be to find them. If you can get a heading, we have the resources that should be able to extrapolate the destination," the Major spoke up. "Impulse is likely not the avenue we should investigate, I agree. However, I do recommend getting those headings followed up as well while we follow the warp trail."
Daneel tapped his commbadge, “Lieutenant tar-Lexros, I have a job for you.” The Betazoid captain explained what needed to be done. “Let me know when you have some results.”
“I think we can rule out the Talsions,” Kip began. “They hate Angosians but they’ve never come into Federation Space. There are several military and political factions the in my people's government that are jockeying for power several veterans have died under suspicious circumstances. The was a man brought in to train Ichatha. That’s the only name I’ve ever known him by, he’s been handling a lot of wet work. That warp signature will probably take us into the Angosian demilitarized zone.”
Hearing the Angosian demilitarized war zone made Alisa's heart rate pick up a bit. She knew what capabilities they had aboard. It would easily take all that they had plus her contingent of marines and the commander's intelligence agents to extract him if they had to go in hot. "Hopefully we can catch them before that."
"We should get underway as soon as possible," Diane added.
"Your ship's cloaking device should make it easier to avoid a galactic incident," Kip shrugged, "We'll need to be careful, there are reports that the Orion Syndicate may be operating in the zone as well."
Daneel nodded and stroked his chin in thought. "Anything else we need to know?" His tone was serious with the merest hint of sarcasm.
"What are we waiting for," Kay said forgetting for a moment she was the junior officer here. "We can't waste a minute more in finding them."
Captain Olivaw looked at Lieutenant London. He took a cursory sense of the emotions emanating from her then he quietly explained, “Lieutenant, please have some patience. We’re not going off half cocked, I want a plan of action to reduce the probability of things going wrong. As a marine officer I’m sure you realize the wisdom in that. We’ll find your crewmates but please remember who is in charge on this ship.”
Kay came to attention straight away. "I am sorry sir. Of course, sir."
Kepek looked at the Captain, "If either the Angosians or the Talsions show up we'll be in the world shit. Now I don't mind a good shit storm, but you Fleet types tend to get a little upset about things like that."
"The Fleet hired you to help us to prevent future conflicts," Cael said glaring at Kip.
Diane’s brow furrowed as she thought. True, regular Starfleet always tried the diplomatic approach and her role in the intelligence department was to aid them. There were also other departments of Starfleet Intelligence that played by a different set of rules. Captain Olivaw was one such person.
Daneel was quiet a moment as he decided how to explain his situation. He 'ahemed' lightly before going on, “My role in the intelligence community is… a little different than Diane’s. This ship and my crew can handle most shit storms, as you put it so eloquently.” He looked to Kepek, “But first, I want a plan and at least one contingency plan. What kind of firepower does your ship have?”
“The Marvhil has phaser banks and two torpedo bays,” Kepek explained. “What she lacks in firepower she makes up for in maneuverability."
Nash spoke up for the first time, “We haven’t completed repairs yet, quite frankly I’m surprised we got here as fast as we did. As far as the weapons go, half of the phaser bank power is routed into the shields.”
“We’re also down a crewman and we’re not putting Annie at the tactical station,” Cael growled.
"Why not?" Diane asked curiously, "Anyone that serves cookies is all right in my book." She hoped the levity would help the dour mood. They had a rescue mission to plan, positivity was needed.
While they started going over the ship's capabilities and their firepower, as Alisa only had one other marine with her and then the security contingent under Rinne on their own ship. "We have three marines and three security officers that are trained for combat at our disposal right now." She figured that she would leave the Intelligence side of things further to the Commander. She didn't want to volunteer the intelligence Commander because it wasn't her place to offer a superior officer.
"Au contraire," Daneel spoke up with a knowing smile, "I have security people trained in combat as well. I can add at least thirty more troops if they're needed."
Alisa took down the note of added people to their mission.
Nash looked at Captain, "Perhaps your engineers could give me a hand with some repairs. Give me a couple of techs, an industrial replacer and I'll get Marvhil back in combat shape, Sir."
Daneel looked to Diane. Diane shrugged, "It can't hurt."
Daneel looked to Nash, "Not a problem. We can probably have Marvhil in tiptop shape before we get there."
"Good," Cael nodded. "If we end up using the Marvhil it would be good if you spare a tactical officer to help. We're two of two of our regular crew."
Daneel pursed his lips in thought, "I'll see if I can get a volunteer. For now, I think we can get under way. Once we're in range, we'll take some sensor readings of whatever facility our comrades are being held in. We'll plan accordingly once we know the lay of the land." He took a look around at all the people in the room. "Sound good?"
"Yes sir." Kay said.
Alisa nodded.
Tags? Anyone?
Daneel tapped his commbadge, “Olivaw to Vam’wa.”
[Go ahead sir.]
“Lieutenant tarLexros has a warp trail for us to follow. Let’s go, warp six, and use the cloak please.”
[Aye sir.]
