Mission: Lantea
Location: sky's office

Tony stretched after she finished her paperwork for the day. The paperwork never seemed to end and it was not her favorite part of the job. Yet someone had to do it.

She checked her calendar before heading to her quarters for the day. And saw the notice to check up on Sky, she still did at regular times. Tony admired how well Sky was doing after the severe trauma she went through but she knew setback still happened and she was keeping an eye on her friend.

After closing up she went over to Sky's office and hit the chime.

After more or less ‘burning the candle at both ends’ Sky had fallen asleep, so much so she didn’t hear the chime when it went.

Tony tried again and when that had no results she logged into her PADD to make sure that Sky was indeed in her office. Seeing that was the case she overrode the door locking system and went inside.

She was instantly afraid to see Sky slumped over the desk and hurried forward to check her vital signs.

Sky awoke with a jump, surprised to see Tony standing over her. “Tony! I’m sorry...I was going over some files, I must have fallen asleep.”

Tony finished her checkup to make sure Sky was telling the truth. Then she looked at her friend. "You know what I am going to say now right?"

Sky nodded. “You’re going to say I’m overdoing it, and that I should rest.” She thought about making an excuse but thought the better of it.

"You get a gold star." Tony said. "Really Sky, you should rest more. If Kay is not up to taking over from you, I need to know. If she is, you should let her do more."

Sky nodded. “I was only reading through reports, I guess I overestimated how long my energy levels would hold out. Are you going to tell Xavier?”

"I think that is for you to decide." Tony said. "You are lucky I am your therapist so I can't tell him." She winked. "But you have to promise me that you are going to work less. Now is there a problem with that?"

Sky smiled and shook her head. “No problem, I guess I’m just used to pushing on through being tired. I have to get used to the idea of change, especially with the twins arriving within the next couple of months.”

"Yes I have been told twins is very different from having one child and it takes a lot more energy. It will keep the three of you busy I guess."

“Definitely!” Sky nodded. “Both Xavier and Tal have been parents before, it’s going to be a whole new learning curve for me.”

"Then take the time." Tony said. "Enjoy every moment with the babies. But I need to know if you trust Kay to do the job or if we have to take other measures."

Sky nodded. “I trust Kay to do her job, I think if we removed her from duty she’d be worse off especially sitting around doing nothing. I suggest she’s kept an eye on.”

"I trust you to do that and to get to the bottom of what is going on with her." Tony then seemed to relax a little. "For now I want you out of your office immediately."

Sky opened her mouth to protest but soon closed it again, Tony was right she was overdoing it and she knew it. “Aye Commander” she smiled as she picked up the PADDs on the desk, then put them away safe.

"Good." Tony smiled as well. "Come let's go and do something fun. We could both use that."

“Sure” Sky nodded and smiled. “How’s about a trip to a funfair? I love to just go watch the rides, and have some candy floss.”

"Not the healthiest option but it sounds fun. My dad took me to village fairs when I was a little girl if we were on earth for any length of time. I loved that."

“Then how’s about that? I’ve never been to a village fair and it sounds fun.” Sky smiled warmly.

"It will be smaller than you are used to if we do that." Tony warned as they started walking in the corridors.

“That doesn’t matter, I don’t mind small gatherings.” Sky smiled. “Besides I’ll take any chance to sit down and relax, all this excess weight is really taking out on my back muscles.”

"I will set the program to english though." Tony was really getting into the mood. "You know my dad is Dutch so we would go when we visited his mother in the Netherlands. My mum doesn't like that sort of thing and she hates it when we speak Dutch. She has a really bad sense for languages."

“I know the feeling!” Sky grinned. “I don’t do other Earth languages that well myself.”

Tony grinned. "I am not fluent in that many languages. I need the tranlsator for most. Just English, Dutch and Klingon." They came to the holodeck and Tony began to program what she wanted.

“To be honest I wish I knew more about me, my heritage” she paused. “I used to ask my mum about my father when I was little but she never told me anything. To be honest I’m not sure whether I want to know how a Federation citizen came to have a baby with a Romulan. It’s not like we’re on speaking terms or that they’re regular visitors.”

"Have you met him at all?" Tony asked. Her family may have it's faults but both sides were warm and tight. Her mum's dad loved genealogy and he could go back centuries when it came to family history.

“No” Sky shook her head. “I’ve no clue who he is, or how they met. It’s not like Romulans are interested in the affairs of other races, having a half breed or in my case part breed child would ruin my father I’d have thought.”

"I am sure they are not all like that. Many people think all klingons are heartless monsters but not all are. Like not all humans are alike. But I totally get it if you don't want to run the risk of finding out."

“I...I’m not sure to be honest.” Sky gave Tony a thoughtful look. “What if my father doesn’t even know I exist? I’m sure Starfleet would frown on having an officer in contact with the Romulan empire.”

"Or they would welcome it like uncle Wain with his klingon friends. It turned out to be an asset."

“Ohh it would be an asset alright, a spy in Starfleet! I can see it now.” She shook her head. “No, I’m not willing to risk what I have here.”

"Good. You have it clear why you won't do it." Tony said firmly as they stepped onto the holodeck and into the fair. "Now let's just have some fun."

Sky nodded in agreement. “I’m looking forward to it! Why don’t you show me around?”

"sure." Tony was greeted by some of the holodeck characters who called her Antonia and she waved at them in greeting. "It's an old fashioned fair. They still had them in my grandmother's town. So there are a few rides, loads of unhealthy food like cotton candy and then the slotsmachines and rifles and stuff which can win you toy animals. Dad always got me the biggest." She was beaming thinking of all those good family memories.

Sky couldn’t help but smile seeing Tony happy as she remembered. “You said the magic word...cotton candy! I have to have some!” She grinned. “Plus I’d love to win a couple of teddies, for the twins.”

"We do! And I have plenty of coins. We can be here all day, I find these machines so addictive. Once I start..." Tony laughed.

Sky giggled. “I have to admit, so do I but I haven’t encountered them very often. The last time I had a go at one it was aboard a previous ship, a friend’s party. I had to have a go, it’s a good job it wasn’t real credits!”

"Yeah." Tony handed Sky a bag full of false credits. "Knock yourself out! We should send patients here to relax really."

“Seriously? Don’t you think we’d end up creating a gambling problem?” Sky couldn’t help but grin. “They’d always be in here gambling away their false credits!”

"I was joking." Tony said. "But most gambling addicts are not motivated by stuffed toys. And if the money is not real it lacks the thrill of living on the edge."

“Very true” Sky nodded. “I knew you were joking, I was just fooling around.” She grinned. “It feels good to feel this happy again.”

"Yeah." Tony said. Although part of her still felt guilty to laugh while she was still unsure what was happening to Ren.

Sky noticed Tony’s half hearted response. “Still nothing definite on Soran?” She offered a caring gaze.

"Xavier thinks he is dead." Tony said flatly. "But I refuse to believe that. I know dad and uncle Wain won't stop looking."

Sky offered a sad nod. “I’m sorry Tony, if they have enough evidence...” she paused. “You May have to eventually accept the fact that Soran is... gone.”

"I can't Sky. Not yet, maybe not ever." She exhaled. "He was the first man I was ever in a serious relationship with." Privately she thought she would not be single and alone for the rest of her life.

Sky nodded understandingly. “There’s going to come a time when you may have to accept that Ren is gone.” Sky paused. This was the first time she’d used Soran’s nickname since he’d tried to attack her in his drugged up, delusional state.

Tony tried to shake herself out of this sudden sad mood. "Maybe. But you are not going to be my therapist for that." She managed a small smile. "Too much happened between the two of you. And I am not ready for you to be my therapist full stop. Not after the intense work we just did."

Sky nodded. “Fair enough, besides I’m off duty having fun!” She grinned. “Let’s get some cotton candy and a drink, then we can carry on looking around.” She started slowly walking. “I am here for you as your friend though, you know that.”

"I know but we often can't help ourselves. And yes for the next hours I just want to have fun and think of nothing."

Sky nodded, “Then that’s what we’ll do! Besides our mission is looming so you’ll be more busy than me, it’s going to drive me nuts not having so much to do! I hate sitting around not doing anything.”

"We have to find you some more hobbies." Tony grinned as she knew she was just as bad.

Sky shrugged her shoulders. “I’m sure I’ll figure something out.”
