Mission: Those who are left behind
Location: captain's ready room

Toni knocked on the door of the captain's ready room and then stuck her head in. "Do you have a minute for me? It's private but urgent."

Raising a brow. "Anything, you should know that by now."

"Yeah." she fumbled a bit. "Uhm... how would you feel if I took care of a family member onboard for a few months. In my own cabin, the person would not take up space."

"We are at war Commander, even as a rescue ship. We are highly likely to meet our own dangers."

"Sir please." Toni hated to have to plead but she saw no other way.

He sat back, he paused before saying anything else. "Who... with no disrespect to you or your family. I have to ask, will this in any way put the crew of this ship in danger."

"He's just a sick old man right now." She knew nobody on the ship had any reason to like her grandfather. "My grandda. I would keep him out of your hair."

"This won't interfere with your duties as first officer."

"No of course not. I would be more worried and distracted if I had to leave him behind." She held her breath.

"Very well. There is also something I want to ask of you, I have decided, that en route to the mission there probably be time, a week or two before we are actually going in for the rescue. I want you and Commander Milton to have the bridge, I will be around. The crew trusts both of you so, I know we are in good hands. I want to spend some time with the newborns and with sky."

"Good idea, Xavier." Toni said thankful for his decision. "Don't you worry about a thing. We will keep everything running."
