We have a mission for you
Posted on Tue Oct 8th, 2024 @ 12:17pm by Lieutenant Commander Hunter Carey & Lieutenant Commander Aalis Rinne
Mission:
Those who are left behind
Location: Starfleet Security Offices
Timeline: Prior to the battle
Admiral Lexington sat across from his desk awaiting the arrival of Lt Commander Rinne. She was told that she would be coming for a debrief on the new enemy, however in truth she would be assisting with securing a facility while the battle took place in the Chin Tok A sector around them.
Having completed what she thought was the minor of minor debriefs, Aalis was told to report to an Admiral Lexington prior to her return to the Resolution. That debrief, as she thought, was so minor that it could have been done over subspace comms. Knowing now that she had to report to an Admiral, it seemed like her trip was double fold. While she was here, her husband, Geiger Zaal, was returning to Trill with their child to ensure that he was safe considering the Resolution had been drafted up in a task force and that meant closer to front lines, closer than they would have liked. She walked up to the secretary's office to the Admiral and took a seat after checking in with the woman.
"Been here long?" A tall man walked up to her and sat next to her. His long frizzled black hair tied behind. His black uniform, screamed special operations.
"Not that long," she commented, noting his special attire. "Obviously, a bit longer than you," she joked lightly.
Lexington tapped his com on the desk, "Hunter, please bring Lt Commander Rinne in with you."
Standing. "Commander, after you."
Aalis quirked an eyebrow and walked through the now open doors with the man behind her. "Admiral, good afternoon," she greeted and stood at attention.
"Commander, Hunter, please sit down."
Hunter already sitting down, knew his job already. He glanced at the Commander.
She sat quickly as she had been requested and folded her hands in her lap. Her inkling suspicion is that she was here to work with the 'Hunter' person next to her unsure of if that was his first, last or nickname. "How many I help, Sirs?"
"How much of your special operations training do you remember from the academy." Hunter replied as he brought up her academy file. "I've had your Captain send your file over, just for a look see."
"I remember all of it. Once I saw the intelligence reports showing that we were gearing for potential conflict, I refreshed my skills on my own time. Why do you ask?" she asked curiously.
"I am in need of your assistance, taking an enemy communication array in the Chin'toka System... the 11th fleet is en route to engage the enemy while they do so, we will slip in and try and take the array."
Aalis looked at the information that he had handed her. "Why me? I haven't done special ops since the Academy; I'm more a security officer, one with ambassadorial and embassy duties."
"Your ability to adapt to change on a whim, we are recruiting, given things that have happened on the res, and several changes, you have had to adjust to new positions numerous times. Something that is always looked for."
"While I'm flattered that you are recruiting and have decided to utilize my abilities, I will help you; I will not joint SI though. I'm a mother and wife," Aalis responded.
"Very well... I will take that answer for now... at the end of the mission maybe you will change your mind."
'Likely chance,' she commented sarcastically in her head before as she responded, "we'll just have to see about that, Sirs. I take it we are leaving now and you have already notified my Captain of my temporary reassignment?"
"He knows all he needs at the moment... namely, you are being briefed on the enemy. Standard when wars start."
"Is there time or ability to leave a message with my family before we depart? I know standard is also comms silence when en route to missions like these," she stated. She wanted to make sure that she had one last chance to talk to her family before she couldn't. It'd make that chance on the other end to be that much sweeter.
"You do have a few hours to get your affairs in order, contact the people you need to contact, without providing any details about what you will be doing."
Nodding, she grabbed her things, preparing to leave. "Is there anything else, Sirs? Otherwise, I'll take those couple of hours to get done what I need to get done without any details being given, and meet back here or meet at the dock?" she asked.
"Meet at the dock..." The admiral replied. "Good luck and dismissed."
