unexpected arrival
Posted on Wed Mar 19th, 2025 @ 11:58pm by Captain Xavier Carey
Mission:
Those who are left behind
Location: Cardassian space
Timeline: Six months prior to the end of the cardassian war
Xavier walked through the field, smoldering, the smell of death was all around. The remington had been responding to a distress call, a cardassian distress call, but being federation, they were obliged to help. However, when they got there, it was too late, what they found was... a blood bath. The victims... they were mostly the young, the old. Those not yet ready for the military service.
"Ensign Carey, snap out of it." came Lt Star replied as he approached. "I want full investigation. Whats it look like to you."
Xavier turned and looked at the bodies. "Needless loss of life, enemy... considering the blades, I would say klingon... however..."
Lt star looked at him. "However?"
"Klingon honour would not allow for their victims to be tied up, it would be dishonourable, as would the ages. These are too young or too old to put up a fight." Xavier replied looking them over. "Not their MO. Sure using the blades consistant with the klingons bat'leth and the disrupters, its a bad frame job."
Star smiled. "Very good." He replied, "deductive reasoning...." He paused as a shadowy space craft came into view, flashing federation signals.
"Expecting anyone." Xavier replied
"Not really. Just was informed to expect someone for new orders." Star replied as he gestured for him to follow.
Looking at the bodies once more before following, they walked up to the shuttle. It was slick, unknown but clearly starfleet. The insignia was familiar however, starfleet Intel special operations division.
Doors opened, and six men walked out, holding weapons, dressed in black. "I was afraid we would be too late. We heard of attacks like this happening all over the sector. Whats the news, any survivors."
Looking to the leader of the group, star looked to Xavier. Noticing the similarities. "Negative. Who ever came was swift, and left no one alive. Scans of the area shows no one in hiding. We are too late."
"Thats a shame. If we could have prevented these attacks, we could perhaps lead it to at least a ceasefire with the cardassians." Turning to the young security officer. "What do you think ensign."
"Frame up to make it look like the klingons, however they did a bad job. Given the brutality of it. The Naussicaans are known to use such tactics, but this is way out of their space. The Romulans... havent been heard of in almost a century, and the cardassians would not do this to their own people."
Nodding. "Thats what we will find out. Lt Star, I will needing an area on the Remington to conduct my investigation on these attacks, and until the foreseeable future, ENsign Carey will be assigned to me."
Lt star looked at him. "Sir, I have more experienced officers that can assist."
"Perhaps... but nothing like fresh eyes, sometimes no experience can often offer more insight."
"Very well. Hes yours." Star replied as he turned and walked away.
"Seriously. this is how you are going to do it." Xavier replied. "I do not need special things from my father."
"I can choose who i want, and because right now, I need to know who to trust."
"Oh?"
"The fate of the federation is at stake, and I need to have people I can trust. That is you son."
Pausing, he looked at the Lt walking away. "Understood."
