what is going on on that ship?

Psychiatric headquarters

Avril Jenston looked over this latest request for a psychiatric evaulation with concern and almost disbelief. It was for commander Stoffels, an officer she knew personally. And calling up her record and going through it with a fine comb, there were no triggers that should warrant this. Nothing in the Resolution latest missions and nothing in her personal life that would indicate Toni would crack. But a request at this level could not be ignored so she decided she needed to take action.

She looked at her aide. "Jason, get me Lieutenant Jansen-Carey on the Resolution."

"Yes ma'am." The young man said and left to do exactly that.

Sitting in her quarters with her young twins sleeping soundly in their crib in the nursery, Sky was surprised to be receiving a call from psych headquarters. She smiled as she answered it, wondering what was so important. “Avril, good to see you” Sky smiled. “What can I do for you?”

"Sky." Avril smiled back. "How are you? I hope all is well with you your husband and the children."

Sky nodded. “Very well thank you.”

"I will come straight to the point, we have received a request to have Toni reviewed by a psychiatrist. I was not aware of any problems so this is a bit of a surprise to say the least."

Sky sighed. “Unfortunately it’s not a surprise to me. There have been some going’s on aboard ship, not of Toni’s doing, that have lead up to this. I can’t say I agree with the referral myself.”

"you were not consulted in this? As chief counsellor? Regulation would have you as the first port of call and if you thought someone was too damaged to continue to call in someone from the outside."

“I have a good idea who requested this, and why. In my opinion Toni doesn’t need an outside evaluation, I’m here granted that I’m currently down as being on maternity leave, I’m returning to full duty very shortly.”

Avril thought for a while. "You sound very certain. It does put me in a difficult position, you know I am a friend of the family. Yet in other situations I would have no problem listening to the chief counsellor who is actually in the situation. But I don't want there to be any chance that people think this is favouritism either."

Sky nodded. “I understand that. Given current circumstances I suppose I may have to agree to allow this, just so it doesn’t look like I’m playing favourites.” She sighed. “Actually whilst we’re on the subject I would like to arrange for an in depth evaluation for one of the crew, Lieutenant Commander Ryan Price.”

"Right. So would it work if I send over someone who is already in the sector to rendez vous with the ship? I am sure two evaluations can be fitted in. I would like it in writing just to be official, if you have a moment. And Sky try to fix the problem any way you see fit. It will look bad on the whole crew if things get further out of hand on the Resolution."

Sky nodded. “I’ll most certainly do my best, and please do send someone that way it won’t look like I’m favouring anyone.”

"Trust me I will make it my priority."

Sky nodded. “Thank you Avril I appreciate it. Last thing we want is any complaints.”

"Indeed. This is a delicte matter and it needs to be dealt with fairly. Thank you for understanding."

Sky nodded. “Regardless of how I feel, you’re right. This does need dealing with as soon as possible.”

Avril nodded, said her goodbyes and cut the com. She did not rest until she had selected the person she thought would be best to handle this delicate job and who was closest to the position of the Resolution.
