Debrief

Posted on Thu Jun 16th, 2022 @ 2:05am by Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Diane Doctrine

Mission: The Lost Brother

Xavier sat at the table, waiting for the two officers to arrive, this was the prelude to the official debrief of the exercise that happened. He was not happy at all with himself, and it was showing. Staring off into the abyss of black that stood out the window.

Tony came in first and as this was an official meeting she came to attention. "You wanted to see me, sir?"

"Just wanted to go over the exercise Commander. We are waiting on Commander Doctrine, and once we debrief we can gather the senior staff."

"Makes sense, sir." Tony said. Then she took a seat in front of his desk.

As if on cue, Commander Doctrine walked in, "Commander," she greeted Antonia with a nod, "Captain, you wanted see... " Diane paused looked at Tony, then back to Xavier, "It looks like you wanted to see both of us then?"

"Just a quick debrief before we meet up to go over how the exercise went." Xavier replied as he took a drink.

"You were very very sneaky." Tony said to the other woman with a smile. "Great job."

Diane nodded a silent thanks.

"Not the way I had envisioned it happening, but we know our weaknesses now... well some of them anyway."

"To be fair, the saucer section was never meant or designed to engage in ship to ship combat alone," Diane acknowledged. "But you did come up with some good alternatives to fighting."

"With dire consequences. Might I add."

"It was my first ever exercise like this." Tony admitted. "And I think I learnt a trick or two."

"Doctor Milton let me know that Talsi merely had a severe allergic reaction. She'll be all right," Diane tried to ease the captain's ill feelings about the event. "I think overall it was a good exercise. We all learned something and a surprise ship separation can always come in handy when you least expect it. Frankly, I'm surprised more Galaxy class captains don't use this drill more often."

"I agree with that comment. With the ship of this nature, it should be familiar."

"I also agree. We need to do drills more often until we are sure we can all rely on each other and we know what to do in emergencies." It would certainly help her.

"Lets get find your brother, and then we can figure that out."

Tony nodded. "Yes sir. Thank you."

Diane listened curiously. She really hated being surprised by things of this nature as she felt it was part of her job to keep up to date on things affecting the ship and crew. “You have a brother that’s missing?” She asked the first officer. Looking to Xavier she asked, “Surely there’s something we can do to help?”

"I have offered the Resolution to take lead in the search, which would leave our current mission without people." He replied as he turned. "Unless you take the captain's yacht along with people you deem necessary to accompany you. We do have the meet up with someone. After we find the Captain's brother, we can rendez-vous with you at the planet." he found it partly odd, that this mission they were assigned to, was in the vicinity of the other mission that went awry. It could be a coincidence. But he left it at at this current time.

Tony was in awe of Xavier and what he was willing to do so that they could look for her brother. She gave the captain an grateful smile.

"You know you just have to tell me what you need me to do," Diane replied. She had sent Xavier a private message detailing the delivery to his personal storage on the Resolution of the supplies he requested a few weeks ago. Now, an apparent wrench was thrown in the works. "I think a coordinated plan dealing with all this would be best."

"That's the best thing. I would like it Lt Rinne or Lt Carey accompany you on the team for security. Perhaps both. Whatever you feel is necessary."

Diane nodded, "Thank you Captain. I can think of a couple other people that I may ask for after I consider some other variables."

"Anything else you may require? Regarding the mission?"

"I don't think so," Diane answered while thinking, "If I think of anything I'll be sure to let you know."

"If that is all, there are some other things I need to set up before the meeting with the senior staff."
