You got your orders people

Mission:
The Mentarin Effect
Location: Conference room
Timeline: Same time as away team
Cameron had called a meeting, mostly due to the nature of the mission. He had invited the doctor, hoping that there could be some sort of update on the Captain. As well as any other member of the crew that he would deem vital with ideas, or input for the mission.
Sky had received a call to attend the meeting, picking up a PADD upon which to make notes she headed for the meeting. Upon arrival, she walked inside offering a polite smile to Commander Greyson. “Commander” she walked around to the nearest seat and sat down.
Vanessa was second to arrive. "Hello," she said, smiling at the other two before taking a seat and pulling out a PADD with the information she'd gathered on the planet and its atmosphere.
Cameron looked up from the padd that he was going over. "Lts."
Once he'd finished off his meeting with Commander Kane, Jacen arrived not long after, with a raktajino and a PADD with him. It had been a busy day so far and he was trying to keep up with the various changes and jobs that his new position came with. As he walked in, Jacen saw Sky and smiled and also saw Vanessa as well.
"Lt Jansen, Lt Jackson, I hope your both well," Jacen said before seeing Commander Greyson at the head of the table. "Commander," he said before taking a seat at the conference table.
Sky offered a smile as she looked at Jacen, trying not to make it obvious that they had something going on together. “Lieutenant”
Tully had received the notification of a meeting to which he was listed as included. He was uncertain if it was an administrative error by an overworked Yeoman, but nevertheless, he came prepared with PaDD in hand.
The transporter Chief was not used to attending meetings of the Senior Staff not department heads, but it was the Captain's (acting or not) prerogative who constituted as essential personnel for said meetings.
Tully entered the room cautiously, a feeling of discomfort weighed on him as he saw the officers. "Hi," he called out to make his presence known. "I don't mean to intrude. I was sent a summons to the meeting," he explained awkwardly.
"I hear you have some ideas Tuscadero, plus this mission will require a skilled pilot which will be of better use than the transporters currently with the issues. I hear you and Lt Jackson are working on a solution to that."
Tully blushed a bit at that. "Aw shucks, I don't know about skilled, but I can certainly get us around," answered the young man. "Lieutenant Jackson and I have been bouncing some ideas around. I think we are close to one."
"He has some great ideas," Vanessa said, not wanting him to take less than the full credit he deserved.
Sky offered Tuscadero a warm smile, he’d made her feel very welcome when she arrived onboard, “Why don't you take a seat over here.” Sky motioned to a nearby seat.
The man responded with an emphatic smile and wove his way around to the seat offered. "Thank you," he said to the woman. Sky was pleasant, and Tully was happy to be seated near her.
Diana Morrison entered the room curious to why she was brought here. The Chief Counselor was the one typically involved in these meetings with the Captain and the rest of the Senior staff.
"Well, any idea doesn't matter who it's from, is welcome to this meeting," Cameron replied as he paused to check the time. "It may seem out of place, but many better ideas come from the newer crew." He stood. "Just to apprise you of the situation before we get started, the away mission that was done, did not go as planned, the Captain was hit in an attack. Commander Kane and Lt Commander Johnson have returned to the surface with a security detail to determine just who it was."
Tully ached at hearing the Captain was hit in an attack. "Holy cannoli!" he exclaimed, and quickly tried to tune down his shock. "Is the Captain alright?" inquired Tully.
"As of yet, the extent is not known, I have invited Doc RJ to this meeting, if it would allow, seeing as he hasn't shown, makes me think its worst than hoped." Cameron stated as he sat back down. "I spoke to HQ, Commander Kane will handle First Officer duties, while I handle Command. Until Leonard is on his feet once again."
=/\= Lt Jansen report to shuttle bay for away team.=/\= Came Kane's voice over the combadge.
Cameron paused looked to the Lt. "I guess you are needed elsewhere Lt."
Sky nodded. “I was expecting that Sir” she offered Jacen a smile as she stood, before nodding to those at the table and heading on her way.
Cameron raising an eyebrow... "Alrighty then..."
Feeling a bit let down that Sky, his meeting buddy had to leave so abruptly, Tully made eye contact with the other person aboard who made him feel safe, Lieutenant Vanessa Jackson. "Lieutenant Jackson was kind enough to spare me some of her minutes to let me ramble off my idea about getting our transporters fictional. It's still a longshot though," Tully trailed off and smiled gleefully.
"Longshot is better than we had a few days ago. Whatever you need to make it happen... consider yourself the lead in that project until our need for a pilot is at hand."
"If I may interject, the science behind is idea is sound," Vanessa said. "I think Tully has a great idea and I'll be happy to help him implement it."
Tully mouthed a simple thank you to the Chief Science Officer. He was appreciative of her support, and willingness to assist him. "With the lieutenant's assistance and a bit of help from Ops, I think we can pull it off."
"The science I will leave up to your capable hands. It's why I chose the weapons instead of scanners "
Jacen sat forward as Tully's comments piqued his interest. "How can I help you, Chief? Ops is always happy to lend a hand in any situation and it'll be good to get working with more members of the crew as well," he said. Whilst he'd briefly met Tully and Vanessa, Jacen looked forward to hearing his idea and seeing how he could help out.
James sat quietly in the meeting truth be told he was more then a little shamed that the captain got shot on his watch. However a bigger part of him was going over ideas to help the people on the planet below. "Sir with respect I might have an idea how we can help the people below. It would mean sharing with them some of our tech but frankly I think that is a small price to pay..". Said James softly
"We are in the primary stage of figuring things out, we can make that assumption afterwards when we are down on the planet. Right now the first step is to assess the issues, come up with a solution."
"The planet is quickly reaching a critical point and the inhabitant's single-minded focus is just pushing that point even faster. What I propose to do is establish a system of atmo scrubbers around the planet focusing on where the worst problem areas are. I realize that these people may not know how to use them so I would suggest leaving a small team to oversee upkeep operation and training for a period of time.
We caused this problem it should be on us to correct it. This would also give us a logical reason to stay here and see to the completion of our investigation into the captains shooting and to see the person or persons involved tried and convicted." Said James as he finished speaking.
Cameron looked to the Engineer, "Our choice to neglect these people is what helped to contribute Lt. In the end, they did this to themselves." He leaned back. "In the end, they are not part of the federation, which the prime directive would apply."
James knew when he was being dismissed out of hand so for now he would sit back and see where things led. Since it was now out of his hands he had at least voiced his opinion
"It is something that we will look into farther down in the upcoming days or weeks Lt. Not ruling it out." Cameron replied, "If it comes to that I want it to be ready, so I want you to have some on standby, you, Lt Rendar and Lt Jackson I want to work together to determine how many are needed on the surface to help the entire planet."
Vanessa nodded, eager to help.
"Understood," Jacen replied.
Diana had been observing everyone in the room before opting to voice her opinion. "Sir do these people even want our help? What happened to the Captain is still fairly fresh at this moment. But I am curious to how the people of this world feel about the attack on Captain Leonard. Are they disturbed by this or do they support the shooters?"
"Fair point Lt." Cameron replied as he looked at her, "I fully intend to find that out. We were called here to help... I think this was more the situation than the actual trade agreement." He paused thinking about what he was going to say. "Perhaps, requesting the trade agreement negotiations, was their subtle way of asking for help without asking for help. The federations law is to help, its known galaxy-wide. This does not mean that everyone is on board. Which is why we have to be ready for both sides. Be ready to walk away, but also be ready to help."
"Agreed," said the Counselor. "But I feel this government failed to give us all the details of the current situation before our away team left for the surface."
Cameron nodded, "Intelligence is something everyone is lacking, we will not make that mistake again."
"So what do you need from me?" Morrison inquired.
"I know this crew is new, but they also are living beings... whatever happens to the Captain, I want an open door policy. Commander Kane especially seeing as the two were close. If there is anything else you can think of I am all ears."
"Minus the senior staff for the most part. Most of the crew has been here for years, including their families. Just from speaking with many families since being on board, Captain Leonard is highly respected and loved. So I definitely agree with what you're proposing."
"See to it," Cameron replied as he looked around the room. "Questions?"
"I'd like to work with the doctor to see if we can get any details on what is causing the pollution. Scrubbers are fine, but the people here will need help with cleaner forms of energy," Vanessa said.
"Good idea, scrubbers aren't going to help if they continue doing the same thing, it doesn't matter how much we help them if we don't fix the problem, it will only be a band aid. See what you guys can come up with."
Tully beamed a smile at Vanessa. "If I can be of any help in that regard, I would like to help," he interjected. "You're absolutely right that unless we determine the source of the problem and change the trajectory of pollution, scrubbers will just be a temporary bandage over a profusely bleeding wound."
Vanessa nodded, then smiled at Tully. "I'd appreciate it."
Jacen looked over at both Vanessa and Tully. "If there's any way I help with th9is or provide some resource, please let me know, it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead," he said offering his services.
"Lt I want you to work with Lt Wayne in coming up with the equipment that will be needed should we e requested of it. I think we have a full schedule, lets start knocking things off it shall we." He replied as he stood, but paused, thought a moment. "Tuscadero, please remain seated, I wish to speak to you privately."
I shouldn't have said as much. I spoke too often. Why was I here? Ugh Tully, you got yourself in trouble. His mind was going everywhere, worried he'd done something wrong. "Yes Sir," he responded promptly.
