Tasin’s Interview

Posted on Fri Nov 4th, 2022 @ 6:49pm by Lieutenant Commander Diane Doctrine & Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Aalis Rinne & Lieutenant Sky Jansen-Carey & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton

Mission: Traitor amongst us?
Location: Sickbay

“I understand he’s paralyzed but does mean he can’t answer a few questions?” Diane was in ‘professional’ mode and hoped Doctor Milton recognized that. She wanted to keep their relationship going but she also had a duty to perform. “If you deem Tasin too fatigued, we can come back later, but the sooner we can get these facts, the better.”

Sky stood alongside Diane, having been requested to be present for Tasin’s interview. She had no doubt Rutherford would have plenty of stipulations where the health of his patient was concerned.

Aalis stood behind the two prime officers doing the interview today, as she was more of the fly on the wall observer and so that she could learn the process.

Milton noted Sky being here; that was both professional and a second stop-gap should things go south. Pix was already on the Monitor above Tasin with her legs curled under her but still he knew she was apprehensive as her glow was dulled. Then there is Diane; she was doing that 'Spooky' thing of her duty. It was her professional tone to cover that really touched him, his gut told him she was a bit hesitant towards him as there is a line and both of them knew it.

"I understand Commander, there is information you hope to get from my patient." That Doctor Tone that he hated using was in full form. "Please understand that I have had Medical authority pushed and while that is smoothed over it will not happen twice. You are in My Sick Bay and with my Patient so I am responsible for what you do with him."

He hated speeches and warnings; however, he would follow through and wanted it known.

"He is weak and recovering, his spirits seem to be not out of the norm, I will rely on Sky's professional demeanor in this as well. If either of us see this getting to be taxing or an interrogation it will be put to a stop." He made eye contact with Diane. "Pix has taken a liking to him and she can be a little watchdog if she get a mind to it." She knows his state better than most so please, as strange as it seems, keep her in mind as another monitor of Tasin's ability to be questioned?"

"I completely understand," Diane replied evenly. She hoped RJ understood. What she really hoped for was a chance to talk to Doctor Milton privately before all this started, but alas, there wasn't time. "If Tasin shows any signs of stress, we'll stop. You know I'm not here to cause any harm."

Sky nodded and offered a smile. “We know that Commander, questions need to be answered if not asked by you it’ll be by someone else Starfleet sends, I think we all prefer it be you. I’ll monitor, if there’s any cause for concern I’ll let you know.”

Diane nodded but wasn't smiling. This was emotionally draining for her and expected it was the same for everyone present. "All right, let's go see Tasin."

They walked into Tasin's ward. Diane didn't say anything at first but merely observed as the rest moved in and around Tasin's bio-bed.

"Tasin, I hate to disturb your rest; yet, Commander Doctrine would like to ask a few questions if you feel up to it?" Milton was calm in his tone. "Pix and the Counselor will also be around just to make sure you do not push too hard. He winked. "You know how protective Pix is so I don't think you have to worry much, I trust... " He almost said 'Diane' but managed to be professional. "Commander Doctrine as well to not tax you too much."

Diane only smiled a little at the mention of her name to try and put Tasin at ease.

Noticing that there were too many people around, Aalis stepped back allowing those that needed to be up front up front. She leaned against the wall listening to the conversation starting to get underway.

Tasin smiled brightly. "Oh my did I end up in heaven after all? All these pretty ladies, of course I am not going to say no to that. I am so completely bored that you can stay as long as you like and ask me anything you want. But." He looked at pix. "I do have to dissapoint you all as I am already taken. My heart belongs to this lovely small lady."

“That’s fine,’ Diane replied while take a step closer to the biobed, “My heart is in someone else’s hands too. Would you mind answering some questions now?”

"No of course not. Do make yourselves comfortable ladies. Ren be a gentleman and get everyone some chairs. Now what's your name beautiful?" He addressed Diane. "I am sure you have a waiver letting me know I can actually talk to you without my father getting angry at me."

Diane winced inwardly. Were these people members of some cult? Perhaps that should get checked into? Perhaps a discussion with Commander Stoffels about her family history is in order? And wasn’t he just told who she was? She took one more step forward and answered, “I’m Lieutenant Commander Doctrine. The General won’t get mad at you for talking to me. Can you tell me what happened?”

"I know your last name but humor a poor sick man and give me your first name." He smlied brightly. "All you pretty ladies." He looked at Wagnor. "Does she have clearance as the commander here seems a bit reluctant to show me evidence."

This is getting creepy, and here we go with the clearance horseshit again, Diane thought to herself, “My first name is Diane,” she answered plainly. She handed Tasin the PADD she’s gotten from Wagnor with the necessary clearance notes from the General.

"Ah good." Tasin read it all through. "Hmmmm that seems to be in order." He gave the PADD back. "Thank you Diane. And who is this lovely lady." He pointed at Lieutenant Rinne.

"Flirt on your own time boy, this is official business! Show these professionals some respect please." Soran said.

"Yes sir, Commander Wagnor, sir." Tasin said bashfully but then turned serious. "Okay enough games, how can I help you."

Sky couldn’t help but smile when Tasin was being so flirty with Diane and Rinne. She’d already encountered his flirty side when she’d first met him after his rescue. She stood watching proceedings, carefully monitoring Tasin.

Diane glanced a silent Thank you to Soran. Then, refocusing on Tasin, she asked, “Please, tell me what you were doing, your mission, who you were suppose to meet with and why.”

Milton watched the proceeding with a focus upon the tricorder, though he did not miss the exchange, Pix was caught in something that Milton had not really thought about, it was good that someone else might find Pix as amazing as he did Diane. These sessions were going to be more often if things kept escalating with the threat of War, it is a probability he will have to face from now on.

Aalis had agreed to take more of an active roll learning under Diane the aspects of interrogation and had been to all the of the interrogations that were underway. She didn't think that she would need to have given her name to an utter flirt. She thanked her lucky stars that her Chief stepped in and shut down the flirting. While she and her husband had an agreement when it came to their duties, it was something that she had well been out of practice for, as well as something she really wasn't up for.

Tasin was completely serious now and told them about the same story Melor had earlier without any big changes. "Then we came out of that bar. We had the idea that something was not right. This guy had been talking to us for half an hour and we had not got anything of use. We were discussing that when we walked to the flyer when they attacked us. I should have seen it coming." He sighed. "It was too late to fight back. we tried but they were good. And next I knew I woke up what can be best described as a torture chamber."

Keeping an eye on the readings Milton only half listened, he did not really care much about what happened, just the results of the torture and the healing of his charge. Pix was not skittish and she would know better than even the tricorder if Tasin were having any troubles.

“So, to say they mistreated you, is an understatement?” Diane asked.

"It was slightly unpleasant, Diane." He said deadpan.

“Did they try and interrogate you?” Diane asked.

"Yes. They tried." For the first time emotion flickered in his eyes. "They tried very very hard to break me. And when that failed they punished me."

“What information were they trying to get you to give up?” Diane asked.

"Mostly about my father and the general. I think they are going to try for another assasination attempt. I tried to stall them as long as I could. As long as they were busy with me I hoped they would not touch the kid. God I feel so guilty for taking him along."

You should Diane thought to herself. “What did you think they thought they’d gain by killing off your father or the general?”

"Destabilizing the pro Klingon element in Starfleet. I am sure they have more targets but this would be a good beginning. And it is personal on both sides. They deliberately paralyzed me as another message to my father."

Diane’s mouth twisted in thought. This was all starting to make a little sense. She would definitely need to talk to the General again. “All right. I have enough to get started for now. Thank you Tasin, if you think of anything else that could be pertinent, please let me know.”

Milton pay attention to his readings, glancing up to make eye contact with Diane. "If you are sure that is all then I will call it good?" He was ready to close the tricorder.

“I’ve got enough for now,” Diane answered Rutherford, “Let him rest.” She made her way towards the door.

"Is Nick okay?" Tasin asked. "Nobody will tell me."

"Psychologically's in pretty rough shape but he's in good hands." Soran said.

"Oh god. My parents are going to kill me, and I don't even blame them."

"Sky and I are seeing to his care." Milton informed. "Pix is helping in her own way as well."

"I am glad to hear that." Tasin smiled. "Pix will be good for him." He turned to Pixie herself. "Thank you, my lady. Nick is like a little brother to me. And I should have known better than to put him in harm's way."

"If you like I can keep your family at Bay at least until you're back on your feet," Soran smiled.

"Thankfully they are a long way away." He smiled. "But I will have to face my dad sometime."

Soran simply nodded, He'd leave breaking that news to Tony or Sky.

Sky offered a warm smile to Tasin, “You've done well today, get some rest.”

Pix came from her perch down to Tasin's level, landing on his shoulder to place a kiss to his cheek and clapped her support of him with a literally, brighter smile. She then sat with her legs curled and lean against the nook of his neck and her glow was a soft one that matched her content mood.

Tasin smiled down at her with a gentle smile showing more of the true nature that always hid behind his loud facade. "Can she stay?" He asked Milton.

"Pix is a free spirit." Milton joked. "She will do as she pleases, but thanks for asking." Looking at Pix. "See you around."

Pix nodded and put her thumb and forefinger slightly apart, seeming to project 'Just a little bit.'

"Okay, I will take that princess." Somehow she did calm him down. 'Wish I could take you with me when I have to tell my da all the stupid things I have done recently."

The news that they had gotten out of these interviews left Aalis feeling uneasy about what had transpired down on the surface. There were so many elements at play here. With everything going on, assassination attempts on top of all of it could be the turning factor in how some of the future unfolded in front of them.
