Mission:
Those who are left behind
Location: Various
Timeline: After "Problem Solving"
ON
Larissa Milton had not really spent time squeezing into an Environmental Suit since before she was pregnant, she felt like trying to fit into a size too small. Yet the suit contoured to her like a glove; upon inspection while looking in the mirror for obvious tears or the like, she noticed her figure was close to pre-Baby and her Mermaid Tail had fit her better. Having a Doctor for a 'Hubby' was not bad.
Linda; the OPS Ensign had helped Larissa into the gear before entering the shuttle. This mission had her away from Are-Jay and Jenny more than before; feeding her baby regularly was her past obsession; now interrupted with a cuddling of her Husband. This is the life in Star Fleet; her Hubby was doing the Doctor thing and now Larissa looked out the portal as the shuttle neared a Dominion tattered hulk. The Computer Core is not destroyed, confirmed by scans so it has been decided to take a change with a Computer Analyst making a connection and see if there is data that can be of use?
Being the good Little OPS Girl Larissa donned a suit and helmet to enter the vessel; ranked among the best Analysts on the ship to put her name at the top. The spotlight from her helmet illuminated the area in front of her; tricorder feed is guiding her to the core and an Engineer and two Security accompanied her but truth be known she like being in a warm office looking over data rather than in the bowels of a ship.
Larissa followed the directions displayed on the over-sized PADD; the 20% increase to compensate the bulk of the Space Suits. According to the PADD stepping through a partly open door; enough the her Demure figure could pass despite the tank on her back. The rather burly male Security Man did not have the same luck.
=^= Hold up a second while I jimmy this damned door. =^= Security Donaldson spoke.
"The Core is just ten meters." Larissa replied. "I trust you."
The battle damage around her spoke volumes; data cables and other wiring; some half fallen ceiling plates and just a mess spewed all along the floor that only the engineer might recognize slowed her progression. She did step lightly; no chances taken as she moved closer. Bending down to a crawl while removing what is similar to a Jeffery Tube Cover before progressing another five meters to another closed cover that came off easy enough.
Entering a small ten by Ten room with a black cylinder from no power taking up the center, nothing to hint at if there are touch screens or anything since the walls were smooth, Console protrusions around the Cylinder confirmed Larissa had found the core, Stopping at the largest console she put down the rectangular Data Storage unit she had drag along with her next to the console she knelt down to pull the connection cable free and after a few seconds and her expertise managed to identify a recessed connection port.
"Someone want to hurry up." Larissa said noticing the darkness all around her 'NOT' broken by another Security man to watch her back. "Getting kinda lonely in here." She tried to lightly tease.
While speaking the internal power source of her unut did light up the core dimly and the panel as well. As is the norm for Dominion, no real symbols or wording on the controls. Vortas are really paranoid. Luckily Computer Consoles are fairly generic and with only a second of hesitation in between Larissa did manage to get some simple commands in to allow her Storage Unit to fully be 'One' with the core; even adding some generic Computer icons superimposed on the console controls.
The light of a Lantern on the other side of the core split the darkness, Larissa noticed it is hand held; not Helmet mounted by the look of it.
=^= That is open salvage girly.=^= the large Bone-breaker frame of an Orion Male Spoke.
Etan had been trying to get ready with all the equipment he needed for salvage, and was a few meters behind Larissa. On her call back to the team, Etan spoke into the mic inside the helmet of his suit. "I'm en route, Ensign. Hurrying may not be the best idea, I'm taking all possible readings." Soon, he came up behind Larissa, and heard the challenge from the Orion over an open comm. He took a deep breath, sending an emergency message to Kay that if she could get there, she should - along with the rest of the Security team. It took a lot of focus to not lose his nerve in front of the taller man - but one of his people was in danger. He switched to an Ops-only channel quickly. "Ensign, fall back and rendezvous with the Security team behind us. Do not be excessively alarmed. We are currently in no danger."
He reached into a pouch on the side of his suit, drawing out a small PADD which he waved to draw the Orion's attention. "That is incorrect. This equipment is classified and the battlefield is under Starfleet authority. Specifically, USS Resolution is overseeing on salvage duty." He offered the man the PADD to see it in text. "As you are a Federation citizen, being aboard this derelict vessel could be considered either stowing away, or violating state secrets. Our ship would be willing to overlook that if you turn over all equipment you've taken and leave." He took a deep breath, painfully aware of the weight of the phaser on his hip, but deliberately making no move toward it. "I understand your confusion, as we are within a parsec of an open salvage zone, and I respect that you may have gotten slightly off-course. I'm sure that if you contact the Resolution from outside the prescribed area, the staff will be willing to help you calibrate and direct you to the open salvage zone." For someone who was as nervous as Etan felt right now, he was managing to cover it well. After all, he'd just given them an excuse that didn't make anyone lose face, and gave the Orions something to suit their goals as well.
"Right away Sir."Larissa almost gave a sigh of relief.
She just started to back away, holding the PADD as it was sending information from the Core; the connection she made is just to download the raw data; the Core would dump all the information, Larissa had set a special Cipher that only her PADD could decode, so the mobile unit hadd all the data but the coding to convert the growing bytes of information to an understandable computer Code is in Larissa's hands while she moved to the opening and knelt down slowly to go through the access conduit and hopefully Meet Donaldson who is suppose to be protecting her?
"Combat zones have been intergalactic Salvage Zones in the past." The large Orion stated. "Now the Federation is trying to back out of that accepted practice?"
Kay came onto the bridge in something of a snit. "Didn't I tell the two of you to wait and stay behind us until I said areas are clear." She almost shouted and then added a belated "sir." in Ethan's direction.
Still typing commands she gave the relay instruction from the Core to a unit on the shuttle; too large to carry it was to serve like an information bucket; able to take 'Data Dumps from the smaller units. Larissa wanted to get as much information transferred while they could, she would decode it later.
Kayleigh arrived on the bridge taken aback to see an Orion standing there as well. “I erm…” she shook off staring at the Orion to refocus on those with her. “I’ve checked Sickbay there maybe extra supplies we could use, not much else apart from that.”
"What of the Technical salvage; the Federation seems very content on not allowing for any logs or anything to be returned to family as you are draining the Core?" The Orion posed.
"If there's anything personal we will arrange for it to get back to it's rightful owners" Kayleigh offered.
The Orion seemed to hear something in his Helmet Comm, nodding he looked to the party.
"You can call off the fighters, I will not bother you any farther." The Orion said. "We are not here to start a War, those Medical Supplies would be enough to make my salvage worth something."
“I guess we could spare them if that’s all you need” Kiara nodded.
"That will be quite generous." The Orion had a sly grin.
“I’ll be making sure that it’s all you need” Kiara returned the sly grin with one of her own.
"Of course." The simple answer filled with reservations on his part.
At that moment Ensign Gregory Turner walked and eyed the large Orion and then back to Kiara and Kayleigh. "Is everything okay?"
"Do we need to submit requests from now that the one in charge is here?" The Orion said dead pan. "The barter was so smooth before management arrived."
“Everything is fine” Kiara nodded. “We were just discussing trade of medical supplies.”
Outside the room Larissa smiled as the Data Transfer was complete; she started to encode the Core to secure it from further abuse by anyone with the new code. The discussion has given her time to remotely get her job done. Now with the very 'contoured and snug suit she had to shimmy back through the access tubes to find her protector and hopefully get back to someplace safe from Dangerous Orions and such?
She might have words with that Security guy assigned to protect her being too slow to follow.
Tony Johnson finished the data transfer on his terminal when he felt eyes on the back of him. Turning around quickly with phaser in hand, the tall Orion behind him quickly backed off with his hands held high. It was clearly that the Orion was trying to get the drop on for the information in this terminal. "Are you really willing to get stunned or worse for this?"
"I meant no harm," the Orion replied in a raspy tone. "Just wanted to get a closer look."
Moving forward, he continued to put the phaser in the intruders direction. "I don't appreciate you or your people being here. Regardless of salvage laws, this is very much still a grave and should be respected. Get the hell out of my sight."
Turning around the Orion quickly exited the room.

It was several hrs after the meet up with the onions, that Xavier finally welmed them back to the resolution, their haul was quite substantial, and the lists of salvaged and repairable was next on the list. A list that would be made up by those readings and inspections of the crew who was.over on them.
"Welcome back, good news I hope." He replied walking over to them.
"There is some data that I managed to get from a Dominion Core." Larissa mentioned.
She was really wanting to get the heck out of this sweaty , skin tight and form fitted Space suit. The helmet and life - support gear long ago put aside for someone else to collect and decontaminate. A warm shower at least; clean clothes are her first order of business.
"IT is running a decoding program within the Mobile Core and I can try to play with it also Sir." Admitting to her Captain. "If I can be allowed to get out of this artificial skin thing?"
"Permission granted, we hill depart the system within the day, take that time to relax. That goes for all of you. Good work. And I apologize for those Orions they kinda appeared out of no where. Not that we should be surprised."
"Thank you sir." Larissa seemed relieved as she turned to depart. "Orion males are not as attractive as the women are said to be to men." SHe smiled. "So no real problem, I should get get to that relaxing as you advised."
"If you say so." Xavier replied, "Briefing first thing in the morning people."
"Aye Sir." Larissa reply and made her way out to decontaminate and shower before Feeding time and being with her Hubby.
