Meeting chief Intel

Posted on Thu Apr 17th, 2025 @ 3:00pm by Captain Xavier Carey & Commander Antonia 'Tony" Stoffels & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Price & Lieutenant Commander Rutherford (RJ) Milton

Mission: Those who are left behind
Location: Ready room

Xavier heard that he would be receiving a new chief intel officer, it would be a welcome arrival, with lt commander pallara, having both would only benefit the crew and the ship. Reading the reports on his dealings with the cardassians extensively, brought him intrigue as it may help him in a Personal matter he was trying to deal with. He had sent a message for him to report to the ready room when he was available. As well as commander Stoffels and the Doc.

Toni was the first to arrive as she had just come off a bridge shift. "It's good to see some of the senior spots filling up again." She said to the captain. "we should soon be back to normal."

Ryan had found his way through the Galaxy class ship easily having been on a couple of others there wasn't enough variation on the design right now too have to memorize specific layouts, as the hum from the turbolift slowed ryan looked up, followed by the hiss of the door opening he looked forward seeing the bridge he stepped forward, looking out over the bridge he saw what was the typical galaxy layout, it looked like one maybe two of the back stations had been switched over too damage control, he made his way down the slight incline toward the ready room door, Ryan paused pressing the door chime button. Here we go again he thought too himself.

"Enter." Xavier called as the chime rang. Looking to the door, the over to his replicator before he walked over for another refill of his coffee.

"Lieutenant Commander Ryan Price reporting in sir." Ryan said

"Please have a seat Commander." Xavier replied, looking over to his left, "This is Commander Antonia Stoffels, my first officer. We are just waiting for Commander Milton, second officer, and chief medical officer to arrive. If you would like, the replicator is at your disposal."

"Thank you sir" Ryan said as he sat "Other than a coffee I think I'm good truthfully." he began to scan the room trying to get a feel for the officers.

Ordering his coffee with a side of cream and sugar, he brought the cup over, and sat it on the desk. "So... considering your file... I take it, you won't be able to answer my questions about your previous postings."

Ryan evaluated the question as he accepted the coffee, "I can tell you about the evacuation of Juhrya and my role, but unfortunately I'd rather not talk about the things I'm sworn to not talk about."

"All hush hush, not something I am very fond of." Xavier replied glancing over at the Commander for a split second before looking back. "However I do understand that at certain times there are necessary circumstances and needs for it."

Ryan paused as he drank the coffee, "Truthfully the trip here is the second longest break I've had since DS nine fell, even when we were fighting the Klingons you caught a break, not here, it's almost as if the plan is to just overwhelm everyone."

"We will get it back, I am sure of it." Xavier replied,

"We hope you will share all the information you can with us." Toni said carefully. Intel was not her favorite department. Of course she had grown up with a father who hated intel with a passion and that had clouded her judgement.

The chime rang before Milton entered, Pix resting on his shoulder, her glow grew when she spotted a new person and she took flight to cross over and attack/ hug the neck of her BFF.

"Medical is a bit of a busy point, soory for delay. " He smiled. "AM I fashionably late or get speech from Captain later kind of late?" He lightly teased.

"I think we can forego the reprimand just this once Doctor." Xavier replied. "Commander. This is Commander Ryan Price the ships new Intel chief. Commander Price, this is Commander Milton, the ships Chief Medical Officer. Who will be looking after your Medical once we are finished here. I think with everything going on, I think a regular aspect of his job would be welcoming."

Ryan continued to scan the new arrivals, his read on the doctor wasn't to clear, most likely to do with his personality, the XO on the other had put off a vibe that could be problematic if there were any lapses in information needed or if the orders got muddy, he made more mental notes as he decided to start, "If everyone's here I can get going, although if everyone has been keeping up with the general briefings I'm just going to add in some personal experience with the enemy and some other data that isn't too out in the open."

"Do not worry, Pix is very reliable to keep a secret despite what might be in those Intel Files about when she first appeared. Milton moved over to an open chair with the little one slowly following ; her glow dimming slightly as she look at Ryan.

Toni was holding Pix in her arms and did not like what she was seeing. "Pix is my personal friend." She said in a bland tone to the intel officer.

Ryan's eyes almost unnoticably narrowed as his tone changed "Starfleet wants the evacuation of injured and resupply to be completed, the medical ship USS Henshaw was about six to six and a half hours behind the transport I was on earlier so it should be here in about three hours barring a run in with a rouge Dominion patrol, when the dominion fleet arrives we'll be out numbered between four and six to one because of those sheer numbers we'll need to be smart about our tactics, right now we're on the defensive and we need to hold as long as possible." Ryan paused "The Jem'hadar are the most fanatical and devoted fighters I've ever seen, they only stop when they're dead," pausing to drop one a rather nasty looking blade on the captains desk "Or we are."

"Excuse me." Toni said very fast losing her temper. "We are a medical ship at the moment. And I think that if there had been new orders they would have been sent to the captain." She did not like how the new Intel chief was doing things. And she wondered what her father would have made of him.

"Once a battle is over; what are the odds that the Dominion would waste resources with somewhere they have been to and abandoned?" Milton asked. "Would they really see potential in these wrecks when there are better targets to attack and conquer? The reason we are here is because Fleet believed it not a viable target; hence, the medical mission?"

Ryan looked over, "Uss Wilmington one of the new Olympic class was reduced too scrap metal, there is no quarter, no prisoners, no rules with the Jem'hidar, they don't care who you are if you're in the way you're dead." Ryan paused "There is no conquest it's about domination now, during the last evacuation I was part of a frontline surgical unit looked more like a butcher shop when they were done, when it's time to run, we run." he turned to the insulate officer "The clock is ticking on a counter attack, and it could run out."

The first officer now kept her mouth shut trying to keep her temper under control. She knew it affected Pix badly so she really tried and kept her face impassive.

Pix struggled free and darted towards the air vent; smacking the cover aside effortlessly the tiny person darted into the opening out of sight.

"Jennifer better not be fussy..." Milton remarked. "Pix needs the positive of a sleeping baby I think."

"Counter attack... we will contact the fighters we may have another issue on the horizon. Tell them to scout the area, any sign of anything report back and we will leave the area." Xavier paused before turning to the Intel Chief. "I hope your wrong Commander, but something tells me... you ain't." Truth be told, with the reports on the Jem Hadar, a loss on their record doesn't bode well. Was he hoping they would just forget this. perhaps. But with Intel already coming forward with reports of another fleet, and them still reeling from the last one. "Just one other thing Commander. Your tone... with my senior officers... needs work. No nonsense kinda deal is appreciated, but tone, can be a little lighter. We have been dealing with changelings, a Vorta down in the brig and a handful of Jem Hadar which is currently running out of the white. Not to mention POWs, injured starfleet officers, some of which are still combing the wreckages of the starships lost during battles."

Ryan stood up, "Last time I took something with a Lighter tone I watched the Tolstoy exploding from the viewport of an escape pod, if my tone upset someone it's not the dead." he turned to exit "Keep the dagger, I have two more."

"I don't say its not warranted. In fact its expected and I know no one here is offended by it. Just I know how things can get when people are angry." He paused for a moment. "We do have several good counsellors onboard. Report to one of them. Thats an order. I do apologize for the losses you have had. Trust me I know where the hostility and the tone comes from. Witnessed it with my father. In the end it consumed him."

Ryan paused in midstep, "I'm only consumed with living."

"Pick a counsellor Commander or I will. After that get in touch with Commander pellara, hes been dealing with the intel side for a while."

Ryan's eyes narrowed he refrained from saying what he wanted to say, "Do whatever, I've been doing my job."

"Its not only a request its also protocol with all new officers arriving on ship, not to mention those who are involved in losses of ships. Not about you doing your job. You wouldn't be here if you weren't doing your job. Welcome to the Resolution Commander, glad to have you aboard."

Ryan just shook his head as he walked away, he wasn't exactly going too talk to some counselor let alone about the thing's he'd done, seen, let alone the fact his whole career was blacked out for a reason, one that a large number of those at Starfleet command don't want getting out, as he stepped into the turbolift again he shook his head, he'd been at the infamous battle of wolf 359, he was amongst the few survivors of that fateful day, after that he'd been recruited to clean up some of the other mess' starfleet had made in the wake of other things.

"That one is going to be trouble." Toni said after she exhaled. But the captain had stood up for them and handled it well for now.

"Some just have more harsh-like communications skills." Milton mused. "It is more problematic if he is right?"

"Sorry I just have some very bad memories when it comes to intel, it triggers me when a new one comes in behaving like that." Toni admitted.

"Considering all things Commander. Intel isn't exactly for the faint of heart, and can change a mans demeaner. His isnt the only one I have seen like that. Nor won't be the last." Xavier replied "I am going to contact my own leads in starfleet, follow up on this counter attack. If its true we don't have long."

"Please do that, sir." Toni said. "Now if you would excuse me, I have work to do."
