Mission:
We are sick of this.
Location: Bridge
Timeline: concurrent
The Resolution slipped out of warp on the edge of the system, a probe sending a quarantine warning as per standard procedure. Not stating the type of disease, but just a general warning to stay away.
Milton had been on duty when they entered and made the call for the Captain to come to the bridge.
“Captain, we are entering the system.” Milton reported to Captain Stoffels.
"I will be right there." Toni replied through the comm.
“Helm, take us in , best impulse speed.” Milton commanded from the Center Chair, still a bit not comfortable but he was adjusting.
"aye sir,." ensign Element replied from the helms console. "Eta 20 minutes current speed."
"Good to know." Milton nod.
Milton ordered the communications to hail the Colony. The auto distress signal would be shut down once the vessel made orbit.
Trouble with plagues like this; or whatever it is, comes from most things seeming normal. Scans of the planet read normal; no obvious weather patterns, toxic clouds or really a hint as to what is making so many sick. The planet should be continuing with the agriculture; the people should be healthy while the Resolution is somewhere else doing scientific stuff aside from trying to cure a planet of citizens.
All Milton could do until orbit is sit in the chair on the bridge; wait to pass the ‘deck’ to the Captain and then look over the new initial scans from LIfe Sciences eventually.
“Lt. Kingston, have those sensors light up the planet when we get close enough, full battery to verify what the status of the planet.” He ordered as a part of the routine they would be adapting until this whole ordeal is over.
Tag Kingston.
“Operations, get ready to be a bit busy setting up planetside operations if you will.
Etan looked up from the Ops board, where he was already 'a bit busy'. "Aye sir. Equipment and ground sensor package drop is with the fighter wing. Type III Planetary probes are ready on your mark, transmitters already linked to Bioscience and Medical datastreams. We can sweep the entire planet as needed. Hazard suits loaded to all shuttles and runabouts, as well as stocked in all transporter rooms. Cargo bays one and three have been converted to triage bays and section handoff to Medical should have been completed already. Cargo bay 2 can be converted as needed, but it's currently storing additional medical supplies. Ops teams have been briefed and are on standby to begin equipment maintenance operations. All Operations officers with medical training have been mustered to support medical operations either in the triage bays or onsite."
“Lt Trollin…” Milton tapped his armrest. “Get those fighters ready, we are near the planet. Time to let you all fly.”
=^= Trollin here.=^= Came the reply. =^= CAP and the Operations luggage is on the pylons ready to deliver. Also the bird with sensor pods is on the Launch pad.=^=
“Glad to hear it.” Milton kept an eye over the Bridge as he spoke. “Counting on you all.” Then the comm line ended.
Sky arrived on the bridge giving Rutherford a warm smile as she took her seat. “Morning Commander.”
"Good to see you counselor." Milton tried to keep the bridge professional, even to those like family.
Sitting at the security station in the corner, Tony Johnson sat back waiting for orders. His security team was on standby, ready to be transported down tot he surface.
Five minutes later Toni came onto the bridge. "Morning all, where are we at?"
"In bound with an ETA rounding 20 minutes." Milton reply. "I think we are getting close, the mystery is approaching at Impulse." He tried to inflict that Humor to lighten the tensions, he hoped it was appropriate?
Toni nodded, for once not even picking up on the humor. This was her first time in command during a mission and all her focus was on that. "Thank you, XO. I want everyone to be extra vigilant." She looked around the bridge. "Tell your departments to be careful. With a virus like this one mistake can be deadly."
“Emotions on the ship are high to say the least” Sky added as she looked towards Toni. “The crew are still getting used to the change of command. Not that they don’t trust you.”
"It takes time to get used to a new command style and doing it during a mission is not ideal, but we will all have to deal with it." Toni said in a neutral tone. The last thing the crew needed to see from her now were emotions.
"Orbital insertion in just a few." Milton relayed. "Would you agree the outfitted shuttle and fighter with sensory pod to take a quick pass when we reach orbit Captain?"
"Agreed." Toni said firmly.
"Have the shuttle pre-flight check done and the SCiene Officer meet me in the Hangar Bay." Milton rose. "I need to be on the first close pass to get the best scans before we have personnel outfitted to beam down." He nod to Toni. "Wish me luck, maybe find the little Buggar on the First pass if we are lucky Captain."
"That would be very welcome indeed, commander." Toni said with a smiled. "Good luck and don't take any risks!"
"I will not take any chances." Milton rose to depart. "I just hope the atmosphere is a sunny day, I would hate to arrive on a rainy Day."
"Never even considered the weather." Johnson responded sarcastically.
"Play nice, boys." Toni said deadpan.
Commander Johnson couldn't help but smile. "My people are ready to deploy."
"Good to hear it. Now get going everyone!" Toni shoed them off her bridge.
